The most recent stage in the completion of the Laeping Salmon statue was the application of the finishing patina. The green, brown coating adds a deeper texture to the four fish and brings them to life. Thanks to Powderhall Bronze for their expertise and support.
This is how they will look once they are positioned on top of the stone plinth. The patina is the same as that on the Commando Memorial. Scott Sutherland never wanted the original patina to be 'refreshed' and asked that it be left to colour naturally. That explains why the Commando Memorial has a slightly greener hue. In time (decades) the salmon will acquire a similar appearance.
